April-KZEW announced their Goodwill Concert which was held at Fair Park on April 25.The freebie concert starred Black Oak Arkansas,Wishbone Ash, Pure Prairie League, and Head East The Zoo reported 110 tons of clothing collected for Goodwill Industries.Best of the free Sunday KZEW concerts were Pretty Things and Journey.
January-The Allman brothers started the year out at Tarrant Count Convention Center followed by first rate performances by Bette Midler, Cat Stevens, and Joni Mitchell with the LA Express
October- On Saturday, Oct. 30th, the ZOO went to television with their first ZOO TUBE.It is a 2 1/2 hour program featuring everything from a 30's flick entitled Sharad From Atlantis to videotaped performances by Gino Vanelli , Rust Weir, and Elton John & Kiki Dee....There were also some strange appearances by by ZOO crew members Charlie Kendall,Loretta, and Mark Christopher.December 17th at12:30 on channel 8 the ZOO presents What's Up Tiger Lilly?....In addition,there will be guest appearances by Linda Ronstadt, Paul McCartney & Wings,and Michael Murphy, as well as the ZOOkeenie kids.....The ZOO family is growing. Barbara Marullo left KZEW and moved to assume duties as Program Director at KATT-Fm in Oklahoma City
June-KZEW is presented with a gold record by A&M's Don Tolle for help with getting Peter Frampton his.The Zoo broadcast a live performance of
"Do You Feel Like We Do" which was the incentive for Frampton to record his live album which made him a star.The Zoo had a poster made for
that broadcast and when Frampton saw it he said, "No one's ever done that for me before".Frampton Comes Alive was one of the all time best seller
November-Mike Hedges is the new golden throated warbler heard on the Zoo everynight fron 6-10pm.Mike's currently in search of a belly dancer to rub his back every night.He comes to KZEW from the wilds of the Colorado mountains...KZEW's Loretta and Rob Dayton and the rest of the ZOO CRUISER STICKER APPLICATION SQUAD had a blast applying the new cruiser decals recently.The Zoo has more decals to stick on your Dallas-Ft Worth vans, so keep your tubes on 98 fm for further info...
November-The Zoo Can Jam, which was held Nov. 7th, collected tons of food for the IndiansThe Jam starred Michael Murphy, the L.A. Express, and Tom Jans .Admission was a couple of cans of food.and one whole side of the Cotton Bowl was filled with Zoo Freaks.

May-The outdoor festival season opened with the Sunday Break in Austin featuring America, Peter Frampton, and Santana.The media hailed the event as success.On the 8th,the Spring Fever Festival was held in Prairie Hill which starred Willie Nelson, and a host of others.The Zoo presented another Flagpole Hill concert on the 16th which starred Texas Rose, Uncle Rainbow, Lynx, and Lightning.Willie joined Joan Baez and Bob Dylan onstage at Hofheinz Pavilion during the Rolling Thunder Review.

A u g u s t-Two big outdoor festivals this month-Sunday Break II and the First Boot Meadow Festival.What else can anybody say about Sunday Break II, other than it broke the financiers and seriously shrouded any future attempts to lure people to an outdoor festival.Too bad it couldn't have been as well run as Boot Meadow , where it was proven that festivals can be both profitable and fun for all.Trapeze played their final performance ever at Texas Hall. Linda Blair, of The Exorcist, accompanied the bass player, Glenn Hughes on the final tour....KZEW unveiled their new four-color Zoo Freak stickers.Alice Cooper dominates the Zoo Concert at 10pm Aug.7th,also Steve Miller lights up the King Biscuit Flower Hour at 10pm on KZEW (98) FM.
